I am  a surgeon, teacher, futurist, innovator, entrepreneur and an evangelist in augmented and virtual reality. I am a 3x TEDx and international keynote speaker and faculty at Exponential Medicine, Singularity University.

I qualified from Kings College Medical School, London and completed my surgical training in London. I also completed my PhD thesis on the Genetics of Colorectal Cancer from The University of London.

I am a laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgeon at The Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals and have been awarded the accolade of the most watched surgeon in human history. As a dedicated trainer, educator, and Associate Dean of Bart’s Medical School, I was awarded the Silver Scalpel award in 2015 as the best national trainer in surgery by the Association of Surgeons in Training. I am also currently serving as an elected member of council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England where I am the  Director of the International Surgical Training Programme. I am an honorary visiting professor at The University of Bradford.

In 2017 I was the top British Asian star in Tech and received this award from HRH Duke of York. I was also the British Bangladeshi of the Year 2017

I am cofounder and Chief Medical Officer of  Medical Realties who are an award winning AR/VR company who have just released the worlds first VR Interactive Surgical Training Module.

I am cofounder and Medical Director of Hearthy a Healthcare Blockchain company and a Non Executive Director for medic Bleep an instant messaging system for healthcare professionals.

I recently disrupting the traditional medical school curriculum by launching the Barts X Medicine Programme which has embedded future technologies and entrepreneurship into the medical school. I am chairman and a co-founder of the Global Innovation and New Technologies conference in London and Chair of the Health track at WEBIT, Bulgaria.

Global Surgical Training

In May 2014, using Google Glass, I performed and streamed a live interactive operation to 14000 students and trainees across 132 countries and 1100 cities.

The Worlds First Virtual Reality Surgery

On 14 April 2016, in collaboration with Barts Health,Medical Realities and Mativision, I performed the world’s first virtual reality operation recorded and streamed live in 360 degrees. This was viewed by 55000 people in 140 countries and 4000 cities and reached 4.6 million people on Twitter. There were over 200 000 downloads on Youtube. This event was covered worldwide on over 400 newspaper/online articles.

On 9 December 2016, I performed the world’s first live operation using Snapchat Spectacles where he trained 200 medical students and surgical trainees, which has been viewed over 2 million times. and over 100000 Youtube downloads. covered by Time magazine.

I was chosen to curate the @NHS Twitter account from 27 February 2017 to 3 March 2017 and tweeted the world’s first live operation via this account.
